Hi,

Adobe Audition 2 stopped to record from microphone on my new computer, Lenovo ThinkPad T400. I've tried Auditon 3 with the same result. The following error is shown:

adobe-error.JPG

All other audio programs, like Audacity, etc., does not exhibit this problem.

The Device Manager shows the driver/card as Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221. Operation system is Microsof Windows XP Profesional Version 2002 Sercice Pack 3.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

where can I buy and download a legal copy of Audition 3.01?

I can't find it on this Adobe site. Everthing I search on this site, or get sent to from a google search, sends me to the new CS5.5 or whatever new software. I don't want all that, and too many functions have been discontinued. I just want audio, having used CooEdit Pro and other Audition versions with previous computers. I'm now returning to audio work. I can't find anything about buying v. 3 here. On google searches, I find plenty of places that claim to be selling 3, but I doubt the legitimacy of them. They're weird sites trying to shove other software at me. Amazon says v. 3 is no longer in stock. Can someone tell me where I can legimately buy and download 3--and get any updates? I have Vista 32 and meet the system requirements for 3. Thanks.

Have any users tried out the new Izotope Ozone 5 in AA 3.01?  Even though properly installed and with AA 3.01 pointing to the proper VST folder, and the.dll shave been selected before updating, the Oz 5 (demo) will not show up in the vst plugin list..Interestingly, it does show and work up in Sony Vegas 9.0.....My system is Windows 7  Intel Quad Core 3.4Ghz, 12 GB DDR RAM

Has anyone else tried it out? Have you gotten it to show up?  Thanks.

Adobe Audition 3.0 Problems

Kind of Long - Windows XP SP3

I play guitar and bass guitar, and want to record them. I have my guitar connected to a ZOOM G1N Multi FX Pedal. The OUTPUT cable from the pedal is then connected to my computer at the LINE IN jack. My headphones come from the SPEAKER port on my system.

When I play guitar it plays through my computer fine, and I can record some clips using Windows Sound Recorder.

When I launch adobe audition 3.0, there is no sound. I can still hear the sound because of the line in, but adobe audition does NOT pick it up.

I have ASIO4ALL installed on my computer.

I go to Audio Hardware Setup - Under all 3 tabs, I put ASIO4ALL.

When I hit the record button it shows that it is getting sound. But it seems delayed. I cannot hear anything from the speakers. When I press stop, or stop recording, and hit play, no sound.

What is my problem - I am a very novice user when it comes to programs like this, and I really have no understand of audio inputs and stuff. I can get full documentation off my system for a better understanding, just tell me what I need, such as sound drivers and pictures of my volume layout. I work on other types of software, so I can navigate through the program easily. I am just unsure what all these buttons do!!!

I have HD sound audio, with 3 ports on my motherboard.

Thank you

Unable to enable DirectX effects (hangs at 92%!)

When I try to enable DirectX effects, Audition first refreshes the effects list. It does this fine until it gets to 92%, then it hangs, stopping at the same effect (JetAudio Sound Effector V3) each time. Audition is still running but nothing happens, it just doesn't go any further, and I have to force close the program.

Can anyone think of a way I can stop this one effect from loading? I searched but couldn't find any file with that file name.

I am unable to enable any of my DirectX effects. Thanks for any help.

Why is audition recording the stereo tracks unequally?

I just upgrade to 3.0 from 1.5 and I must say I have been racking my brain for hours trying to figure out all my problems. I found most by scrolling old posts but this one I cant find. After installing the program I opened a beat in the first track of multiview. I tried recording and I was having latency issues so I took the advice that popped up in a message prompting me to switch to ASIO drivers. I opened the audio hardware tab and selected my mic (02s) (samsung C01U). Now, when I record in stereo the volumes dont record evenly. The left ear records just a little bit louder then the right ear. On the bottom where the mic level are the top bar stays a precise amount away from the lower bar (about 2 inches). So when I record, the top level (left ear) records normal and the bottom level (right ear) in considerable lower. Doesn't sound good. I know I could equalize it using effects but I want it to record evenly. Anyone know how to fix this. I have VIA High Def Sound Card (I think...thats what it says under device manager) and windows 7. I was messing with the settings in my ASIO4ALL control panel trying to fix the latency issues so maybe I screwed something up there. What default setting should I put in the boxes in the ASIO4ALL control panel?

Select microphone for audio driver?

Please excuse my bad english.

Microphone is connected to PC. In the Windows' tool "Sound" -> "Recording" there are 2 microphones: first one which is built-in laptop, second one which is connected to audio card inlet.

With audio driver "ASIO4ALL v2" choosen at Edit -> Audio Hardware Setup -> Multitrack View -> Audio Driver recording comes from built-in microphone.

With "Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver" choosen recording comes from connected microphone. This microphone is better, but because of driver the recording sounds badly.

Can I use connected microphone with ASIO4ALL driver?

Thank you for your attention.

DRUM LOOPS VST plug in - for Audition ?
I am looking for a DRUM LOOPS VST or DIRECT X plug in that would work in Audition 3.0

Is there anyone that could guide me on this inguiry, I would really appreciate ?

I am a guitarist, not a drummer & I do not know how to built drum patterns:

--  I am looking for already made drum loops, (not drum beats that you have to built from nothing)

-- Drum loops with the possibility to CHANGE the SPEED of the loop

-- looking for quality Accoustic Drum loops of classic styles, offering a selection of different styles: Blues, jazz, rock, Funk,   (no RAP, no electro or heavy metal)

-- I am not equipped with MIDI or midi controller, I have no keyboard. So i would need a plug in VST- or Direct X that you can just drag & drop the WAVE LOOP  into the Audition track.

-- It would be great if the drum loops had options of drum pass, endings or some variations on the basic pattern so it is not always exactly the same beat from start to end.

-- I am looking for FREE or PAYING plug in if the price is reasonnable.

If anyone could guide me on this inquiry, it would be so great! Thanks immensely.

My downloaded Auditon 3 does not install.

After a disc crush I had to install all programs. My Audition installed from the CD but i could not activate it. From Adobe support in England I got another version that does not require activation. However it failed to install on my PC running Windows 7 ult 64-bit. The original version has worked fine on exactly the same PC but it seems that the activation server is not available anymore. All my other Adobe programs installed perfectly.

Does anybody have a clue of what to do?

Anyone ever get "Audition could not find a supported audio device!" message?

When I try to start Audition 3.0 I get this message "Adobe Audition could not find a supported audio device. Please check your device settings." All of my system sounds and sounds from other programs work fine! This seemed to happen after a recent Windows or McAfee update as no other programs have been installed. I have also tried to "repair" Audition, when I run the repair it says that " The wizard was interupted before Adobe Audition 3.0 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. to complete installation at another time, please run set up again."

I have tried to reboot the computer several times and still have this happening! I am running Windows XP SP3. I can use system restore to go back before the update and get Audition to load. After the computer updates again, I am right back here the next time I try to start Audition. I know why not turn off your updates? Well, I do want the security and anti-virus updates...

I do not see any problems in device manager and all my system sounds are working along with sounds from other programs, web, etc. I just do not understand why after the updates and why the repair keeps getting stopped?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

How do I get the output of Audition 3.0 to go to my speakers?

I am running Audition 3.0 on a PC with Windows 7 Home Premium.  This may not be the proper place for this question, but I was not able to put it on the Adobe Audition 3.0 and earlier forum.

I am trying to record cassettes into Audition via a Behringer UFO202 USB device.  I plug in the USB and my computer sees it and I can hear via the headphone output that it is playing.  I go to the Windows Recording Mixer and it indicates that a USB audio device is working and I can see it recording into Audition.  However, when I turn on my speakers, nothing comes out.  When I play I-Tunes or sounds off my internet browser, I hear what I play, but I can't hear anything off Audition.

I am also using a HT Omega Sound Card.

I figure it is something that is not checked in some window someplace, but i can't figure out what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Problems installing Adobe Audition

Has anyone else had trouble installing Audition from the provided downloads??  My installer starts, asks for language.. English, but then disapears.  No further prompts and the wizard never launches.

I've been able to install the other programs short of After Effects and Encore which still have not been provided but can not get this installer to run.  Is there something I am missing?

Thanks!

Audition 1.5 compatibility

I have been a regular user of Audition 1.5 for the past 6 years or so. My work involves working with files largely in the 8kHz format (telephony) and also invloves a lot pf batch processing. I find the "Edit script file" feature extremely useful since i need to cut a lot of files (of different lengths) into a fixed length. I am still with Windows XP and Audition 1.5 since 8kHz files in a Windows 7 environment tend to give out a hiss on playback.

So my questions are:

1. If i am forced to move to Windows 8, which seems very likely, would Audition 1.5 be supported by the new OS?

2. As mentioned earlier, i need the "Edit script file" feature for my batch scripts and as far as i understand, Audition6 (CS6) does not let you do that to the recorded Favorites(as batch scripts are called in CS6). So, in case Windows 8 will not support Audition 1.5, are there any versions (Audition 3 maybe) to which i can upgrade and thus retain my freedom to edit the script file.

What folder are User Preset Effects files saved to n Au 2.0 and 3.0?

I just changed over to Audition 3.01 from 2.0. In the past, whenever I reinstalled Audition or used a trial of Audition, I was able to install my personal effects presets from Audiotion 2.0 by simply copying and pasting my saved user presets folder into the corresponding folder in the new program. However, it's been a while since I did that and I just can't remember where the user preset folder is located. I looked in every folder I can imagine and can't see anything but VST folders for effects searches I did. Also,I have the settings on to Show Hidden Files. I think I may be losing my mind, but maybe someone can tell me where this user folder is. I have so many important effects preset and it would be impossible to re-do them. Thanks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Missing presets in favourites folder/Edit window

I've tried to post my question twice but get this Window instead...so here goes again:

I purchased Au3 after a run with the free trial period. I hadn't used Cool Edit or any version of it before. The reason I chose Au3 was because it reminded me of Logic V.7 which I'd used to record my CD and it was on someone else's system. So as soon as I was able, I decided to look for a DAW of my own and after a lot of research I decided that Au3 would be the right choice - I loved the user friendly interface/workflow and it wasn't long before I was making 1st class recordings of my own.  I've been using an Acer 5720 laptop with dual core processer. My previous O/S was Windows Vista but it became corrupted and so last month after endless problems I had the O/S upgraded to Windows 7.

The next logical step was to uninstall Au3, then re-install it so as to cure any possible compatibility issues due to my change in O/S.  To do that,  I needed to deactivate Au3 before I could reinstall. To my horror, I couldn't access the Adobe server and instead I've been advised to visit the download link online.  This presents several problems: 1) possible reinstall issues if for some reason I can't thoroughly uninstall my purchased 2-disc version 2) my actual purchased discs will be useless as I can no longer deactivate/reactivate them.

It seems safer just to continue with the originally installed Au3.  I have installed the update patch so that should be in there and doing what it should.

So I was forced then to try a 'repair' - and the problem had been missing presets in the effects drop down menus.  This was solved by the following procedure:

C drive

Users folder

App data

Roaming

Adobe Audition

DELETE yellow folder icon: 3.0

When Au3 is re-started, the folder is recreated and the presets in the drop down menus of the effects is restored! However, one drop down menu I cannot seem to re-activate is in the .wav EDIT window.  At the top of the icon bar is a tab called 'Favourites' and this should hold presets for normalisation, compression, noise reduction etc.  I just can't seem to restore those and instead, the drop down box asks me to create a new 'favorites' list. Does anyone know how I can restore those?  Thank you. - Andy

Dropouts in playback & midi master-slave prob's.

Dear fellow users, thank you for reading my posts and the very helpful replies.  My earlier problem ergo 'missing presets' in the FAVORITES tab/dropdown menu (Edit window) is now solved thanks to Richard Yoeman-Clark who kindly sent me a copy of the AudCust.ini file.  I dropped that into my empty file folder.  Worked like a charm and I now have my presets back!  I've made a copy of that little file!  Heartfelt thanks to you Sir Richard!

Now I'd like to raise two other vexing questions:

1) I'm recording my audio tracks into separate stereo tracks in the main multi-track window directly in 'real time' from my stand alone Yamaha QY-700 sequencer.  For example, the current project (without any vocal tracks as yet) stands at 27 tracks of audio - I've split the drum parts up and every other instrument has its own stereo track in Au3's multi-track window.  These are all stereo because I'm taking a 'L' & 'R' audio output from the sequencer into my Edirol UA-25 inputs.  The USB connection is then carrying the digitised data directly into Au3 as a stereo input signal, not a mono source.

2) By lining up a programmed 'click' count-in at the start of every audio track, I'm then able to use a vertical marker and hone in on the onset of each click with sample accuracy at the beginning of each track and then line track 2 up with track 1 and so on... however, as the track progresses in time during playback things slowly drift out of time.  So I've been resorting to cutting and re-positioning segments of the audio to get them back into sync' with the preceding track.  Very laborious!  So why don't I use some sort of time code or master-slave midi arrangement from the sequencer to Au3 or the reverse?

Answer: It's not working!  I've connected 2 midi cables from the QY-700 to the rear of the UA-25 but when I press PLAY on the Yamaha no midi signal is being picked up by Au3 to initiate recording.  I then tried the reverse procedure, with Au3 in record standby mode, then pressed the record button but no midi-clock signal is being recognised by the QY-700 and it just sits there without advancing a single clock pulse. Any suggestions?

QUESTION 2: Playback across the multi-track is normal until I add EQ on any of the individual tracks and in particular if I add any compression/mastering effects on the master output channel strip.  Skips, drop outs, hiccups, juddering, dead stops - the same sort of sound you'd get if you knocked a record player stylus across your favorite album! - you know that screeching sound... So is this an audio buffer related problem or could it be something worse?  I did get a message on my screen saying 'Warning: Heavy CPU Load by Au3' so I'm wondering how to cure this.  My laptop isn't SO old!  Its an Acer 5720 with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7500.  Note: All session files are stored on the D drive and there's adequete memory - a healthy 58.7 Gigabytes.  The Au3 program is stored on C Drive - and there's 31 Gigabyte free on that drive.

Previously I was storing/reading back all my session files from an external Maxtor HD, but until I upgrade to a USB 3 connection from the laptop (later this month) I was advised that it was best to save all relevant session files internally on the D drive to speed up data flow.  I intend to save completed sessions to the external HD in any case, then delete the finished sessions/files from the D drive, then start a new project with a clean slate.  I also investigated the idea of buying a solid state hard drive but was advised that in practise I wouldn't get any noticeable improvement in CPU speed/Au3 performance.

I'm not a computer programmer but have tried to think about how to solve/improve performance issues like these.  It's great to be able to lay out big multi-track recordings, but if I can't utilise the EQ's, busses, reverbs or compressors on the master output strip without the above problems - then there's something seriously impeding that and I'm not sure what the problem can be.

Re' the midi master/slave capability, if I could get that working it would solve the syncronisation headaches!

Thanks to those that have read this post and given it any consideration!  The midi settings available in the QY-700 are:

MID SYNC: Internal | Midi A | Midi B | MTC Midi - A | MTC Midi - B

MIDI CONTROL IN: OFF | IN - A | IN - B | IN - A, B

OUT: OFF | OUT - A | OUT - B | OUT - A, B

Does anyone know what I should be selecting in this chain and which corresponding commands in Au3 should be selected/de-selected to engage MASTER or SLAVE modes and vice versa with regard to the QY-700?

Au3 gives the following choices:  MIDI TRIGGER ENABLE | SMPTE/MTC SLAVE ENABLE | SMPTE/MTC MASTER ENABLE | SMPTE START OFFSET

Should I be selecting all of the above options? Or selecting only one?  In the 'Keyboard shortcuts and Midi triggers' pane, I've selected *any* midi channel.

If there are any another MIDI control panes, fields or switches I've not yet discovered them. - ( Andy posting as Day Of The Schmeckel )

I record 10 tracks (songs) with a Tascam DA38.  Record them then into the Edit View of Aud 3.0.

I use Normalize (but that doesn't mean anything).  Then I burn them onto a CD in the CD View.

The finished product I then spend weeks trying to get all ten songs equal in volume (wasting 25 or so blank discs.  Any ideas to help?
