unable to get midi controller to work with adobe audition
Mixing and Exporting separate files from multitrack session
Hi,
Is there any solution for radio producers, to export from Audtion 3.0 separate files. For example i've got a few parts of radio program in one session - each one consists a HeadIn, Loop, voicetack and HeadOut (arrangedon differenttracks}. Now, I don't want to select one by one and export - I wan't to export everything in that session as mixed, separate files at one go.
Is it possible?
Thanks in advancefor your answer.

How to shrink/trim a multi-track session
How can I shrink a multi-track session? For example, if I add a one hour clip to a multitrack session, the length of the session will expand to one hour. If I then delete the one hour clip and insert a one minute clip at the beginning of the session, the length of the session will remain one hour, with 59 minutes of empty space. The problem with this is that it makes it very difficult to perform fine-tuned scrolling because the scroll thumb has shrunken to a tiny sliver.
Adobe Audition 3.0 "Audio Hardware Settings" for USB Audio Interface HELP!
Hi guys.
I’m after some help in the internal settings of Adobe Audition 3.0 whilst I’m trying to run my condenser mic through my ART USB Dual Pre.
I have the USB Dual Pre all set up in my Windows 7 set up (it automatically becomes the default recording device when it’s plugged in), phantom power enabled, XLR cable plugged into the right socket of the two available (is there any difference? I’m just recording voice tracking for radio announcements), headphones plugged into the monitoring jack at the back. Levels are turned up enough that they will pick up the noise, if there was any.
I go to the “edit” tab in Adobe Audition 3.0, hit record and nothing comes up. I’m not getting any sound at all registered on the computer. I’ve downloaded and installed Asio4All, but can’t for the life of me figure out the configuration within the “Edit > Audio Hardware Setup” to make the damn thing pick up my voice. There’s mention of Audio Drivers (Asio4All or Audition 3.0 Windows Sound), USB Audio Codecs, Input/Output… it’s enough to make a man who’s not very good at this sort of thing cry (ie. Me).
Could anybody help a body out, please? I think I’ve done everything right except the configuration within Audition itself. A helping hand would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Audition 1.5 adds or alters file extensions
I work for a radio station so several people use Adobe Audition 1.5, including interns who have little to any previous experience with it. When files are saved, I tell them to save everything as an .mp3; also, most everything that's saved has the date in the file name (as in 2-15ComedyClub.mp3 or McDonalds2-20.mp3).
Occassionally, however, someone accidentally mistypes and uses a period with the date instead of a dash, which will cause the computer to think it's a file extension; i.e. saving the file McDonalds2.20.mp3 instead of McDonalds2-20.mp3.
In doing that, this changes the "files of type" section when you're trying to save a file. Normally, in that "files of type" section, you'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.mp3) if you wanted to save an mp3 and Windows PCM (*.wav) if you want so save as a wav, etc. However, when the file name is saved incorrectly, the new "extension" shows up. Using the current example of McDonalds2.20.mp3, If i go to save a file, under the save drop-down menu, in the "files of type" section, I'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.20.mp3, *.mp3) as the file type. And then when a new file is saved, the extension is .20.mp3.
How on earth do I fix this? (Besides the obvious, don't save things as the incorrect file name/extension)
Thanks!
Why does Audition freeze when accessing Control Panel in audio hardware setup?
We recently changed out the PC's at our radio station and now Audition has been freezing up on users while working on audio files. It also freezes up on me when I try to access the control panel in the audio hardware setup screen to change some settings. The PC is running Windows 7 and we are using Adobe Audition 3.0.1. I have tried some things I've found on Adobe forums but none have worked. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

How to install a VST plugin?
recording midi using an external keyboard
Hi, im relatively new to this software and vsti plugins. I'm wondering if i can use an external keyboard to trigger off midi sounds using the vsti plugin on audition. the keyboard i'm using is quite a lousy and cheap keyboard (YAMAHA PortaSound PSS-50), but i'm using this to test out the vsti functions on audition before i buy a better keyboard.
After i plugged the keyboard into my computer using audio jacks, i went to the multitrack interface on audition. Then i clicked insert midi track. Then I clicked the red "L" button and then clicked sequencer. Under sequencer, at the top right hand corner i have no midi devices to select from and i have selected the 3 vsti plugins provided by adobe. What can i do to use the external keyboard to play sounds?
And is it possible to explain to me the concept of VSTi plugins and midi sounds? Any reply will be greatly appreciated!
Audition 3 and FW-1884 with FE-8
I've been running Audition with the Tascam FW-1884 with great success. I decided to expand the number of faders by adding an FE-8 to the FW-1884. I had done alot of research, but apparently didn't realize that the FE-8 needs to be recognized by the DAW independently from the 1884. I can't see any way to make Audition aware of the second bank of faders through the External Controller menu.
I can't imagine I'm the first to try to set this up in this way. Any suggestions please??
Thanks!
ASIO drivers? wtf?
I'm having fits with Audition 3.0. I just received a computer with a heavy duty media card (Soundtek) it's a HD device and there are a lot of game ports on this computer ( dirves E-I) and I'm sure it plays wonderful games, but when I go to record in Audition 3, it says that I need an ASIO driver. As it is, I get track latency that I cannot reconcile with my present sound card.
I have used Audition in the past. On my original edition (Audition or Cool Edit Pro 2000) I had a button that I checked that allowed me to compensate for the latency. I'm not new to the overall product. I have used Audition 1.5 and 2.0 in the past as well. Unfortunately that computer is no longer with us and I'm trying to get this new one ready to go.
Should I go out and buy a cheap Audioblater ASIO sound card and replace the High Def media card? Seems counterproductive but I'm wiling to do it if it allows me to record without the latency.
Audition 3.0.1 Realtek HD audio 30% Left-Right bleed/crosstalk
New problem. Everything I record from stereo mix or listen to on this computer (through any player) is not discreet stereo. There's about a 30% left-right bleed.
Speakers are selected as "stereo" and there are no effects applied in the sound card's properties.
But play the "DING" associated with the left speaker and you get some of it in the right speaker too. Recorded a strip with test tones applied to just the left channel via the card's Line In port and the Audobe waveform clearly shows 30% level in the right. Change the tones to the right and the reverse happens.
Seriously don't think this is Audition's fault, but Dell seems to think so. One would think clicking the speaker icons in the sound properties dialog would rule that out.
Suggestions?
Can I change record setting to 44100 Hz?
I've had Au 3.0 since it came out. I edit many files together from different sources, and everything else that comes to me is recorded in 44100hz. When I put things into multitrack, well, if you use Au 3.0 a lot than I would guess you're experiencing this annoying resampling that I'm experiencing. Because or recording with 48000 Hz, I need to resample to 44100 to make it compatible in multitrack. Very annoying. I usually forget (as I'm loading things into multitrack) and end up with many duplicate files.
So, I've dealt with this for a few years, but never thought to ask if it could be changed. I know I can (in preferences) change the bit rate (as I needed to upon beginning with Audition), but what about Hz?
Your help is much appreciated.
Also, is there truly no way to search JUST in Audition? Am I only allowed to "Search Forums"?... As in all forums? Tends to give non relatable information very often. Surely I'm doing it wrong.

Best reverb settings for an orchestral score?
I do a lot of orchestral scoring on my computer, but the string samples I use are more or less dry.
I export the indivudual instruments and do the mixing in Audition. So far I have been using the Great Hall preset, which is fine for smaller-scale films, but for the big action scenes it just doesnt seem to have the "oomph".
Does anyone have any tips or tricks for some good reverb -- or even EQ settings -- for a more fuller sound?
Thank you.
Adobe Audition 3.0.1 - Saving/Converting WAV's to MP3 adds small amounts of time to my MP3 files !!?
Hello.
I am new to the Forum, but turning to the masses out there for help with a weird one!
I have used Adobe Audition for YEARS. I do a lot of converting of my finished WAV files to Mp3 files. The finished WAV's have always been in 48000Hz, 16 bit Stereo, and are always mixed to the specified time (e.g. 15, 30 or 60 seconds duration). These are then converted to mp3 files, using the 'Save As' option, choosing the 'Save As Type' as mp3PRO (Fhg) (*.mp3) option.
My conversion settings have always been:
CBR, mp3, 320Kbps 48000Hz Stereo (4:8:1), Maximum bandwith = 24000Hz, CBR Rate = 320, Sample Rate = 48000Hz, Codec = Current - Best Quality, Allow mid-side joint stereo, allow intensity joint stereo, Set 'Private' Bit, ISO Padding, Write CRC Check Sums.
...Now, for some strange reason, ever since last night, whenever I do the above process - the resulting mp2 file seems to ADD ON little bits of time...from 0.048 of a second to around 0.168 of a second..!!??? So to further clarify: If I convert a 15 second WAV file to mp3 - the resulting mp3 file ends up being slightly longer in duration at: 15.168 seconds..???
This has never happened before. And, a solution has got me beat.
I have tried different conversion settings, different configurations - even saving the initial WAV as a lower sample rate - but, no joy.
I have an old version of Adobe Audition 2.0 on a different machine - and guess what?! Even IT does this same weird thing now too.
It doesn't seem to matter if I REC and convert new files or convert old files - same problem.
Even opening up mp3 files - that I KNOW were spot on for time - now also have these little bits of extra time added to them, once they are openned...??? What the...!!??
I spent over half an hour on the phone with Adobe Tech support, earlier this afternoon. They got me to reset all of my user configuration files - but, didn't slove the issue!
PLEASE: Has anyone experienced this same conversion issue..? I would also be interested to know, if anyone else replicates these conversion settings, if they get the same problem..?
Could this be one of those good old Windows update things..?
Does anyone know if there are updates available for Auditions built-in mp3PRO encoder / decoder..?
PLEASE HELP !!!
Thank you, in advance.
John.
Upgrading from Cool Edit Pro 1.2. - help please
I've been using Cool Edit Pro vs 1.2 on a Windows XP PC ( with an Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card) for many years.
As a non-techie radio feature maker I've been very happy with its simplicity and ease of use.
My PC now needs replacing and I am reluctantly contemplating how to upgrade my editing setup.
I have the following questions:
Is it possible to transfer Cool Edit Pro software onto a PC running latest Windows?
If not, which version of Audition should I be investing in (- remember ease of use is important, I don't want lots of features that I will never use).
Any soundcard recommendations?
I welcome any tips!
The volume of what is being recorded is far too low
My operating system is XP and I have Audition 1.5. Just to let you know, I’m not too savvy with the technicalities of Audition. I just record, do noise reduction, Dynamic processing, add effects, and level everything. Anyway, I was recording fine until I decided to take a break and for some reason disconnected my mic (It’s a USB mic). When I came back I reconnected it and resumed recording but the volume of what was being recorded was minimal. I have to put the track in solo and put the volume all the way up to hear what was recorded and even then it sounds low. In the level meters when I’m recording my guitar, you can see it respond to it. If I play hard enough the levels will go all the way up yet in the multitrack window you cant see the sound waves of what is being recorded. That’s how low it is. I tried restarting the program and the computer as well as raising the mic volume in the control panel. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any idea as to what it can be?
Thanks in advance.
Problem: Playhead cursor doesn't move, but audio still plays
Using Audition 3.0.1 with Windows 7 x64 Home Premium.
In both edit mode and multitrack mode, using any kind of audio file, the playhead marker just remains where I place it. I'm able to hear sound, but visually, nothing works - that is, the screen doesn't scroll either. I have uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times with no change. What could be causing this?
How do I get the output of Audition 3.0 to go to my speakers?
I am running Audition 3.0 on a PC with Windows 7 Home Premium. This may not be the proper place for this question, but I was not able to put it on the Adobe Audition 3.0 and earlier forum.
I am trying to record cassettes into Audition via a Behringer UFO202 USB device. I plug in the USB and my computer sees it and I can hear via the headphone output that it is playing. I go to the Windows Recording Mixer and it indicates that a USB audio device is working and I can see it recording into Audition. However, when I turn on my speakers, nothing comes out. When I play I-Tunes or sounds off my internet browser, I hear what I play, but I can't hear anything off Audition.
I am also using a HT Omega Sound Card.
I figure it is something that is not checked in some window someplace, but i can't figure out what.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Why is audition recording the stereo tracks unequally?
I just upgrade to 3.0 from 1.5 and I must say I have been racking my brain for hours trying to figure out all my problems. I found most by scrolling old posts but this one I cant find. After installing the program I opened a beat in the first track of multiview. I tried recording and I was having latency issues so I took the advice that popped up in a message prompting me to switch to ASIO drivers. I opened the audio hardware tab and selected my mic (02s) (samsung C01U). Now, when I record in stereo the volumes dont record evenly. The left ear records just a little bit louder then the right ear. On the bottom where the mic level are the top bar stays a precise amount away from the lower bar (about 2 inches). So when I record, the top level (left ear) records normal and the bottom level (right ear) in considerable lower. Doesn't sound good. I know I could equalize it using effects but I want it to record evenly. Anyone know how to fix this. I have VIA High Def Sound Card (I think...thats what it says under device manager) and windows 7. I was messing with the settings in my ASIO4ALL control panel trying to fix the latency issues so maybe I screwed something up there. What default setting should I put in the boxes in the ASIO4ALL control panel?
