How to edit multiple WAV files at once?

$

Using Auditon 2.0 for a long time and cannot figure a way to do this easily:

I have 24 tracks loaded in a multitreack session from a live recording. There are significant periods of time that are not of interest and I want to delete those sections of the live recording (same start/end time in each track). I want to do this to cut down the file size and processing time - so I want to actually edit the WAV files.

The only way seems to be to take each track into the Edit view, select EXACTLY the same start/end time, delete, save the WAV file, select the next track, make the same selection... etc etc. Takes a long time and is error prone if I don't select exactly the same start/end times in each file.

Is there some way to do this in Multitrack view for all the tracks as once?

Thanks for any ideas...

My client wants ISR codes in the mastered files - as well as on mp3 files which will be made from the original wav files.

How do I do this in 1.5, in a way that the codes carry over into the mp3 files (to be posted for downloads)?

thanks,

David

How to shrink/trim a multi-track session

$

How can I shrink a multi-track session? For example, if I add a one hour clip to a multitrack session, the length of the session will expand to one hour. If I then delete the one hour clip and insert a one minute clip at the beginning of the session, the length of the session will remain one hour, with 59 minutes of empty space. The problem with this is that it makes it very difficult to perform fine-tuned scrolling because the scroll thumb has shrunken to a tiny sliver.

Distortion after converting wav file to mp3

Hello,

I am working with a .wav file of 8k sample rate, 16-bit, mono of a Skype conference call that was recorded through the computer. The wav is file is Microsoft ACM: Microsoft ADPCM. The audio quality of the original is not great, as you can imagine, but when I make my edits and convert to mp3 it sounds horrible. I don't know the technical term for it, but it sounds muffled and distorted--the effect you get when you cup your hand in front of your mouth and move it around while talking. I'm at a loss for what to do. Is there some setting I need to change before converting? I know it's a low sample rate (I usually work with 44.1K), would that contribute to the problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Have a complaint come to me about Adobe Audition 1.5 with low recording levels, no no record at all. On a Windows XP system all other devices record and playback no problem. Just Audition no record. I tried to go to Options and Windows mixer says no mixer is installed. I went to Sound card settings and the record area is greyed out. I looked in Device Manager and noting with ! or ? or yellow says all working fine. Any ideas? I realize this version is 10 years old but the Radio Station is still using this version.

Audition 3.0 Multitrack View Has Disappeared, Has Become Inaccessible...?

$

I have successfully been using Audition 3.0 until today to create, record etc utilizing both Edit & Multitrack function/view. However, upon completing and closing a session today, then shutting down computer as I usually do, then came back later to reopen not only this but any other session and it does not respond, as in, the multitrack view does not open, appear or otherwise seem to be accessible.

I open a session and get a single track in what appears to be edit view but when I go to File it shows that I am actually in Multitrack View if you follow but it still looks like I am in Edit view. The tracks of the session are listed in files on the side but the actual multitrack session will not open to reveal each track. Hope this is clear; very frustrated, pleas help if you can, Anyone. Thanks! Chris

Audition 3.0 with Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd gen) on Win 7 Pro 64bit. Get error message.

I recently bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd gen) and when I connected it to my PC, Windows attempted to install the driver but failed so I downloaded the latest driver from the Focusrite website, v4.15.0.172. I can select the 2i2 as the default recording device but when I attempt to select it in Audition I received the following message: " The audio input is not activated. Recording audio is not possible. Please check you input configuration."

I've checked everything and can't see what's wrong.

Windows is fully upto date.

Can anyone help?

Adding reverb just for vocals

$

I recorded a live band this weekend using CUBASE 5 only because it gave me the option of recording 2 instruments and the vocals separately on 3 different channels. I was told I cannot do it on Adobe Audition 1.5, if I was given wrong info please let me know.

So now I have a WAV of the voice by itself without the instruments. The singer heard it and said I need to use the recording software to add a little reverb to that particular WAV (voice only). What is the easiest way to do this? thanks a lot everyone

Using Multiple Sound Cards to Record in Audition or Cool Edit 2.0

$

Hi,

I've recently bought an M-Audio Pro 8R (USB) after selling my Delta1010 (PCI). Had no problems whatsoever recording using multiple devices when using the 1010.

Now I've found that I can't get Cool Edit 2.0 to recognise the new sound card as a multi input device, so have tried Audition (as I was told this would work).

It will see the sound card as a multiple input device, that's great. However, I want to have more inputs, so I use another USB sound card at the same time (to get more inputs for a live recording). Unfortunately, I can't use the M-Audio unless I set Audition to it's ASIO driver, but then I can't use the other USB soundcard. If I use default Windows drivers, I can use both sound cards, but no signal comes in from the M-Audio?!

I know little about drivers and set-up, so need some guidance. I've noticed people mentioning ASIO4ALL. If so, how do I get Audition to use this driver?

Alternatively, how do I set up either Audition or Cool Edit 2.0 so I can use both sound cards (or more) at the same time?

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Extract audio from CD fails in Win 7

$

I recently purchased a new Dell Studio XPS 8100 running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.

I purchased Adobe Audition 3.0 and upgraded to 3.01.

Extract audio from CD does work at all -- it does not even open a window to choose a track.

If I try to use the open command, I see the tracks but it says file type .cda is not supported.

(All of the above work perfectly with my old XP computer.)

I know my new hardware is working well because I can extract a CD track to a .wav file using
Windows Media Player.  I can then opoen the .wav file in Audition and edit it.

What kind of dirty tricks is Microsoft Win 7 plalying on me?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Are there any patches to Audition or the OS to fix the problem?

The volume of what is being recorded is far too low

My operating system is XP and I have Audition 1.5. Just to let you know, I’m not too savvy with the technicalities of Audition. I just record, do noise reduction, Dynamic processing, add effects, and level everything. Anyway, I was recording fine until I decided to take a break and for some reason disconnected my mic (It’s a USB mic). When I came back I reconnected it and resumed recording but the volume of what was being recorded was minimal. I have to put the track in solo and put the volume all the way up to hear what was recorded and even then it sounds low. In the level meters when I’m recording my guitar, you can see it respond to it. If I play hard enough the levels will go all the way up yet in the multitrack window you cant see the sound waves of what is being recorded. That’s how low it is. I tried restarting the program and the computer as well as raising the mic volume in the control panel. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any idea as to what it can be?

Thanks in advance.

Trouble installing Audition 3.0 on Windows 8...

$

Hi,

Just got a new Samsung laptop with Windows 8...this is all new to me..I'm used to my old XP laptop but it was ancient.  I'm getting frustrated because the main program I wanted to use - Adobe Audition 3.0 - doesn't seem to want to install on my new laptop.  The installation begins, even the official Adobe extractor makes a folder for the program files, asks me if I'd like to install Audition, I click "Yes", it starts to install....then when I get to selecting which language, I click on "English".  At this point, the installer just disappears. Nothing.  No confirmation of anything, no error message.  I've tried this over & over...

Also I've tried to use Compatibility Mode with no luck.  When doing it that way, a box comes up that says something like "Did the program install correctly...select Yes if so, or No to troubleshoot...".  If I select "No", the window doesn't offer any solutions.  Another weird thing--on a whim I took this laptop into a computer repair place and explained what's happening.  Everyone working there had never heard of this happening.  They even called their main tech who was off work that day, and he was intrigued and stumped, having never seen this kind of an issue.  The best they could come up with was for me to re-install Windows 8, which seems very excessive to me.  I'm told Windows 8 has some "glitches", although I have no idea how true that is.

I do understand that some very old programs aren't compatible with Windows 8.  But I have heard/read multiple people say that they are using Adobe Audition 3.0 on Windows 8 and that it works fine.

I'm hoping this is something easy to figure out. I did try to search around online and here before posting this, but couldn't find a solution.  Many thanks for any suggestions or input!

Is two USB headsets with recording possible?

$

Hello,

I am a hypnotherapist and I have Audition 3. When I work with clients I want to plug two USB headsets into my laptop and play back hypnotic music. I want to be able to converse with the client through the headsets and record what is said as well as the music. I will then be able to give the recording to the client for them to listen to at home.

Does anyone know if Audition will see the headsets and this idea is a possibility?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Audition 3.0.1: Switching from ASIO to Windows Sound for Playback

$

Hey, I'm having an issue with playback on Adobe Audition 3.0.1.  I have an Alesis MultiMix USB 2.0 mixer that I use for recording.  I have the most up to date ASIO drivers, and everything recorded and played back in the studio perfectly, no problems there.

Here's the problem: I do all my mastering/mixing at home, and I don't have my mixer at home.  I want to be able to change playback to the default Windows Sound driver so I can play what I recorded without having to go through my mixer.  I went to "Audio Hardware Setup" and switched the audio driver back to Audition Sound, but every time I try to do it, the program just reverts back to the Alesis ASIO driver.  Is there any way I can work around this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have downloaded:

ADBEAudition_ESD1_WWEFGJIS

and attempted to install. It gives me a wrong serial number error.

Where do I find the correct serial number?
