Audition 1.5 adds or alters file extensions

$

I work for a radio station so several people use Adobe Audition 1.5, including interns who have little to any previous experience with it.  When files are saved, I tell them to save everything as an .mp3; also, most everything that's saved has the date in the file name (as in 2-15ComedyClub.mp3 or McDonalds2-20.mp3).

Occassionally, however, someone accidentally mistypes and uses a period with the date instead of a dash, which will cause the computer to think it's a file extension; i.e. saving the file McDonalds2.20.mp3 instead of McDonalds2-20.mp3.

In doing that, this changes the "files of type" section when you're trying to save a file.  Normally, in that "files of type" section, you'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.mp3) if you wanted to save an mp3 and Windows PCM (*.wav) if you want so save as a wav, etc. However, when the file name is saved incorrectly, the new "extension" shows up. Using the current example of McDonalds2.20.mp3, If i go to save a file, under the save drop-down menu, in the "files of type" section, I'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.20.mp3, *.mp3) as the file type. And then when a new file is saved, the extension is .20.mp3.

How on earth do I fix this? (Besides the obvious, don't save things as the incorrect file name/extension)

Thanks!

Hello everyone.

I'm having a few problems with my adobe and i urgently need help because i have a very important file i need to edit but it doesn't seem to open.

The problem is that whenever i try to open that specific session file, it says: "Audition has encountered an error. [|Monk|main|common|PremiereShell|Src|PlayerFactory.cpp-379]"

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Programme: C:\Programme Files\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\Audition.exe

R6205

- pure virtual function call"

Sometimes it tells me to restart adobe. Do i have to reinstall it again? Or is it because the session file is corrupted ?

Select microphone for audio driver?

Please excuse my bad english.

Microphone is connected to PC. In the Windows' tool "Sound" -> "Recording" there are 2 microphones: first one which is built-in laptop, second one which is connected to audio card inlet.

With audio driver "ASIO4ALL v2" choosen at Edit -> Audio Hardware Setup -> Multitrack View -> Audio Driver recording comes from built-in microphone.

With "Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver" choosen recording comes from connected microphone. This microphone is better, but because of driver the recording sounds badly.

Can I use connected microphone with ASIO4ALL driver?

Thank you for your attention.

Hi,

I am looking for Mac versions of Adobe's 1.5 and 3 versions. These softwares are long out of release so I couldn't find them on the Net anywhere. I am curious if anyone of you have any or can redirect me to the source from where I purchase/get Mac versions for these two versions?

Audition 1.5 Record issues

Have a complaint come to me about Adobe Audition 1.5 with low recording levels, no no record at all. On a Windows XP system all other devices record and playback no problem. Just Audition no record. I tried to go to Options and Windows mixer says no mixer is installed. I went to Sound card settings and the record area is greyed out. I looked in Device Manager and noting with ! or ? or yellow says all working fine. Any ideas? I realize this version is 10 years old but the Radio Station is still using this version.

Audition 3.0/3.0.1 overriding hardware sample rate set in MOTU

I am a long time user of Audition from the CEP days.  Just upgraded from Au 1.5 to 3.0.  I use a MOTU 828mk2 interface.  For me, always a reliable pairing with CEP 2.1, Au 1.0 and 1.5.  With the upgrade, I'm finding that Au 3.0 keeps overriding the sample rate set in the MOTU driver applet, from 44.1khz to 48khz.  I've tried resetting the preference in the MOTU app, as well as setting within Audition, i.e., pulling up the hardware interface using the Control Panel button within Edit>>Audio Hardware Setup.  The selected driver is MOTU Audio ASIO.  In either case, whenever I go back to the Audio Hardware Setup, it has changed back to 48khz.  I see this change occur on the MOTU front panel sample rate indicator as well.  Anybody run into this with MOTU or other hardware?  I've also loaded the 3.0.1 patch, even though this problem isn't listed in the Bugfix.  Didn't solve it.  Advice appreciated.  Apologies if this has been covered.  I tried searching on 'hardware sample rate change' and similar permutations, but that kept bringing up basic info on setting hardware, sample rate defs, etc.  Thanks.

Hi Durin: Question about EZdrummer

$

I've been reading a bunch of these posts and you (Durin) seemed to be the authority around here as far as VSTi goes (haven't really looked at the other topics). I'm not sure how often you read these but, it can't hurt to try.

I've been posting on the Toontrack support forums trying to get EZdrummer to work with AA 3.0. Eventually, I got this reply from the Head of Support over at Toontrack:

"... Adobe Audition is not supported.

FYI what you described is exactly what I remember from my last attempt at getting it to work (some time ago admittedly). Since we don't have any contact with the developer (I guess our emails did not get routed to the right people since we never received any answers to our communications) then I'm afraid that the 'no support' status is here to stay."

It would be a shame to keep these two amazing programs from working in tandem. I know this is probably a pipe dream, but what are the chances of facilitating communication between Adobe and Toontrack about EZdrummer support? I'd find it hard to believe that I'm the only one who would really appreciate this. Thanks for any replies!

midi controller: sustain pedal

I have a project to enter classical piano scores as midi files using the piano roll type entry (purely computer entry -- no external instruments).
Unfortunately, I cannot find a way to support the pedals in Audition 3.
I'm using Windows Vista, not that that should make any difference.

If Audition cannot provide support for the sustain pedal (it IS a midi controller function) I cannot use the product for my project.

Please help! (... or offer condolences.)

Adobe Audition 3 cannot install

I've heard good things about this program, when it works, and I wanted to give it a try.

Trial version, after extraction the install launches, I select the language and right after I hit Next it crashes without any warning or message. I tried this thing repeatedly and I get the same result each time. Is there a problem with it?

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and the hardware I own meets all requirements for running this application.

Adobe Audition 3.0.1 - Saving/Converting WAV's to MP3 adds small amounts of time to my MP3 files !!?

$

Hello.

I am new to the Forum, but turning to the masses out there for help with a weird one!

I have used Adobe Audition for YEARS. I do a lot of converting of my finished WAV files to Mp3 files. The finished WAV's have always been in 48000Hz, 16 bit Stereo, and are always mixed to the specified time (e.g. 15, 30 or 60 seconds duration). These are then converted to mp3 files, using the 'Save As' option, choosing the 'Save As Type' as mp3PRO (Fhg) (*.mp3) option.

My conversion settings have always been:

CBR, mp3, 320Kbps 48000Hz Stereo (4:8:1), Maximum bandwith = 24000Hz, CBR Rate = 320, Sample Rate = 48000Hz, Codec = Current - Best Quality, Allow mid-side joint stereo, allow intensity joint stereo, Set 'Private' Bit, ISO Padding, Write CRC Check Sums.

...Now, for some strange reason, ever since last night, whenever I do the above process - the resulting mp2 file seems to ADD ON little bits of time...from 0.048 of a second to around 0.168 of a second..!!??? So to further clarify: If I convert a 15 second WAV file to mp3 - the resulting mp3 file ends up being slightly longer in duration at: 15.168 seconds..???

This has never happened before. And, a solution has got me beat.

I have tried different conversion settings, different configurations - even saving the initial WAV as a lower sample rate - but, no joy.

I have an old version of Adobe Audition 2.0 on a different machine - and guess what?! Even IT does this same weird thing now too.

It doesn't seem to matter if I REC and convert new files or convert old files - same problem.

Even opening up mp3 files - that I KNOW were spot on for time - now also have these little bits of extra time added to them, once they are openned...??? What the...!!??

I spent over half an hour on the phone with Adobe Tech support, earlier this afternoon. They got me to reset all of my user configuration files - but, didn't slove the issue!

PLEASE:     Has anyone experienced this same conversion issue..? I would also be interested to know, if anyone else replicates these conversion settings, if they get the same problem..?

Could this be one of those good old Windows update things..?

Does anyone know if there are updates available for Auditions built-in mp3PRO encoder / decoder..?

PLEASE HELP !!!

Thank you, in advance.

John.

Adobe Audition not saving Meta Data

$

I'm trying to save file information within an mp3 or wav file for our broadcast software (AudioVault) to read it and the information does not save.

We use versions 1.5 and Version 3 and they both exhibit the same behavior.

I have followed the info below but it doesn't work.

The File Info command opens a dialog box in which you can see and add metadata—descriptive information that a computer can process and search—about the open audio file. For example, metadata can include history, loop, and Broadcast Wave information.

For audio files in WAV, mp3, or CEL format, you can use the File > XMP Info command to add XMP metadata. This extensive metadata can be shared across databases, file formats, and platforms. (See Add or edit XMP metadata.)

  1. 1. In Edit View, choose File > File Info.
  2. 2. Click the tabs at the top of the dialog box to navigate between different sets of properties.
  3. 3. Set properties as desired, and click OK.

To preserve file information when you save files, select Save Extra Non‑Audio Information in the Save dialog box.

It is not saving the start and end date. Here's what I'm doing. Open mp3 file. File-File Info, toggle text field names to Radio Industry.

Fill out Description, Advertiser, start date, end date, click ok. click file, save as (clicking save extra audio infomation)

now close the file and reopen it and the start and end date are gone. Ideas?

No mp3 format to save to

$

Well, that's partially true.  I usually save my file in the mp3 format, but my problem is that all that shows up is mp3 PRO.  From what I understand, the mp3 PRO takes up less space than a normal mp3 file...but the problem I've run in to on countless occasions is that the mp3 PRO files won't play.  Let me explain....

I used to work at a radio station and would record commercial spots through my Audition 1.5 program.  I would save them as mp3 PRO and put them into our system, and also sometimes burn a copy onto a CD for the customer.  The spot would play fine through our broadcast system....but the customer couldn't get the spot to play on the CD that I had burned for them.  I ran it through another file converter program, saved as an mp3 and reburned the CD....works just fine.

Here is another example... I was recently auditioning for a job at another radio station.  I created my aircheck through Adobe Audition 1.5, saved as mp3 PRO and emailed it to the station.  They were not able to listen to it on their computer.  I used a different program to re-save the file as an actual mp3, resent it to the station....now they have no problem hearing it.

I read another post where someone said that they had the mp3 option on their "save as" list, but that they couldn't click on it, or something.  I don't even have that option on my list! Is there a way to get that on there?   Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, especially since I am looking to get into some voice work and really need to be able to save as a straight mp3.

Thanks for the help,

Ranges disappeared

Hi,

I'm running Audition 3.0 on a Win7 64-bit computer.

I just spent time putting in ranges into a Wav file, and then saved the file. When I opened the file, all the ranges were gone, as if I hadn't done any work on it.

Could anyone tell me what has happened?
