Audition 1.5 adds or alters file extensions

$

I work for a radio station so several people use Adobe Audition 1.5, including interns who have little to any previous experience with it.  When files are saved, I tell them to save everything as an .mp3; also, most everything that's saved has the date in the file name (as in 2-15ComedyClub.mp3 or McDonalds2-20.mp3).

Occassionally, however, someone accidentally mistypes and uses a period with the date instead of a dash, which will cause the computer to think it's a file extension; i.e. saving the file McDonalds2.20.mp3 instead of McDonalds2-20.mp3.

In doing that, this changes the "files of type" section when you're trying to save a file.  Normally, in that "files of type" section, you'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.mp3) if you wanted to save an mp3 and Windows PCM (*.wav) if you want so save as a wav, etc. However, when the file name is saved incorrectly, the new "extension" shows up. Using the current example of McDonalds2.20.mp3, If i go to save a file, under the save drop-down menu, in the "files of type" section, I'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.20.mp3, *.mp3) as the file type. And then when a new file is saved, the extension is .20.mp3.

How on earth do I fix this? (Besides the obvious, don't save things as the incorrect file name/extension)

Thanks!

Adobe Audition 3.0 Delayed Start When Clicking "Play"

When I click "Play" or hit the space bar to play back an audio file, the green play arrow lights up immediately, but the playback line doesn't start moving to play the audio for about 1 or 2 seconds.  I use Audition to play back prerecorded phone calls on the air, and it would be nice if I could tighten up this delay in playback.  I am using Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

PCM Raw Data import issue

I've been using AA3 for ages now but have never had any major problems but this one's got me flummoxed!

Without going into too much detail, I had need to use the "import raw data" option on a file recently and, as you can see, an option to import a file with the .mp3 extension is available to me.

However, this option does not appear on a friend's machine and neither of us have any clue as to why not! We are both using a proper, legal, copy of the program (ie not a 'cracked' one or anything) but where I have Windows 8.1, he only has Windows 7.

That can't be the only difference, surely?

Can you shed any light on this issue?

Thanks.

How do I get the output of Audition 3.0 to go to my speakers?

I am running Audition 3.0 on a PC with Windows 7 Home Premium.  This may not be the proper place for this question, but I was not able to put it on the Adobe Audition 3.0 and earlier forum.

I am trying to record cassettes into Audition via a Behringer UFO202 USB device.  I plug in the USB and my computer sees it and I can hear via the headphone output that it is playing.  I go to the Windows Recording Mixer and it indicates that a USB audio device is working and I can see it recording into Audition.  However, when I turn on my speakers, nothing comes out.  When I play I-Tunes or sounds off my internet browser, I hear what I play, but I can't hear anything off Audition.

I am also using a HT Omega Sound Card.

I figure it is something that is not checked in some window someplace, but i can't figure out what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

trouble with supported files

Hey everyone,

My old PC recently died, and so I've been trying to get everything reinstalled in the new one.  I Have Audition 3, and for some reason it is not wanting to accept files from CDs, or cda files (previously I imported those, and  then saved them as mp3s for that project).  Now when I try to open a track from a CD, it won't add it and just has the 'RAW or unsupported file type' message in the window.  I imagine I just need to change something with the associated file-types, but wasn't having any luck finding it, if that is indeed the correct action.  Any ideas?

Then one other question.  I used to run audio inputs to the mic jacks on the front & back of the old computer.  THat worked fine, I Just had to have only one of them plugged in at a time.  On the new computer, I can only set it to do the front or back input, so I have it set for the rear, and just swap out my input source each time.  The quality coming in is also not as good as it was on the old computer.  Gah, I really have having to start all over getting all this stuff right again.  Thanks for any help guys!

Mixing and Exporting separate files from multitrack session

Hi,

Is there any solution for radio producers, to export from Audtion 3.0 separate files. For example i've got a few parts of radio program in one session - each one consists a HeadIn, Loop, voicetack and HeadOut (arrangedon differenttracks}. Now, I don't want to select one by one and export - I wan't to export everything in that session as mixed, separate files at one go.

Is it possible?

Thanks in advancefor your answer.

Why is audition recording the stereo tracks unequally?

$

I just upgrade to 3.0 from 1.5 and I must say I have been racking my brain for hours trying to figure out all my problems. I found most by scrolling old posts but this one I cant find. After installing the program I opened a beat in the first track of multiview. I tried recording and I was having latency issues so I took the advice that popped up in a message prompting me to switch to ASIO drivers. I opened the audio hardware tab and selected my mic (02s) (samsung C01U). Now, when I record in stereo the volumes dont record evenly. The left ear records just a little bit louder then the right ear. On the bottom where the mic level are the top bar stays a precise amount away from the lower bar (about 2 inches). So when I record, the top level (left ear) records normal and the bottom level (right ear) in considerable lower. Doesn't sound good. I know I could equalize it using effects but I want it to record evenly. Anyone know how to fix this. I have VIA High Def Sound Card (I think...thats what it says under device manager) and windows 7. I was messing with the settings in my ASIO4ALL control panel trying to fix the latency issues so maybe I screwed something up there. What default setting should I put in the boxes in the ASIO4ALL control panel?

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library runtime error" - Help?

I purchased Adobe Audition 3.0 a couple of months back for my Windows 7 laptop and overall I enjoy it. When it works, it works great. However, I have encountered a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error" at least three time which prevents me from being able to continue with a session.

The latest occurence seems to have been triggered by my machine going into sleep mode. I have the laptop set to never go into sleep mode while open because if it does while I have a session up, the playback glitches when I come back to resume the session, BUT, a relative saw my open laptop and thought I accidentally left it open and closed it. Sure enough, the playback went wonky so I saved the session and closed it out. When I re-opened the session and pressed play in multi-track view I got the runtime error message and the program shut down. I can't continue using Audition if I can't fix this problem. Please help!

System details: Custom HP, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Intel Core i3-330M Dual Core processor (2.13 GHz), 8 GB RAM.

Audition 3.0.1 presets gone

Hi,

I have been using AA3.0.1 for some time, and even though I have had an occassional crash, my effects presets have always been returned without a problem. Recently that is not the case. About 1/2 Adobe and izotope presets just

vanished...some remain, some are gone. I saw the tip to make a copy of the 3.0 folder - rename and restart...but wasn't clear - do I restart from the renamed folder? Also - if this does not work I have another question; Can I just get the xml file and put this in the effects folder? It seems like an obvious question but I did not find this on the forum threads. Thanks for your help.

Kind Regards,

David

Eliminating background noise & noise reduction

$

Hello,

I am producing an audio segment for the web based on a conference that was recorded (on one channel) using a single microphone to capture about 5 speakers. Unfortunately, the sound of keyboard typing is audible pretty much throughout the proceedings. Can noise reduction eliminate this without clipping out what the speakers are saying on top of it? My understanding is that NR is for reducing ambient room sounds, not specific noises like this, but I'm hoping I'm wrong about that. I know "garbage in, garbage out," but if I can tidy up the garbage enough to make it presentable--I'll live with that.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil

DRUM LOOPS - VST plug in - for Audition ?

DRUM LOOPS VST plug in - for Audition ?
I am looking for a DRUM LOOPS VST or DIRECT X plug in that would work in Audition 3.0

Is there anyone that could guide me on this inguiry, I would really appreciate ?

I am a guitarist, not a drummer & I do not know how to built drum patterns:

--  I am looking for already made drum loops, (not drum beats that you have to built from nothing)

-- Drum loops with the possibility to CHANGE the SPEED of the loop

-- looking for quality Accoustic Drum loops of classic styles, offering a selection of different styles: Blues, jazz, rock, Funk,   (no RAP, no electro or heavy metal)

-- I am not equipped with MIDI or midi controller, I have no keyboard. So i would need a plug in VST- or Direct X that you can just drag & drop the WAVE LOOP  into the Audition track.

-- It would be great if the drum loops had options of drum pass, endings or some variations on the basic pattern so it is not always exactly the same beat from start to end.

-- I am looking for FREE or PAYING plug in if the price is reasonnable.

If anyone could guide me on this inquiry, it would be so great! Thanks immensely.

Editing very large MP3 Files

$

Hello,

Sorry for my bad English! I am French!

I recently bought a Sony digital recorder (ICD-PX312) that records MP3 files.

I recorded my noisy neighbour, in continuous mode for three days. (I was not at home)

PX312 recorder has produced several files which maximum size is  511,845 kB corresponding to a lenght of 24H 15min.

Every file, checked with Mediainfo, have the same properties. (48kbps 44.1KHz)

I can read them with VLC media player without any problem, but I need to edit these files to keep only the interesting parts.

If I open (drag and drop or open file) these files with Audition 1.0 (I came from Cool-Edit), I found a very strange behavior.

The 24H 15min files are opened with a lenght of 1H and a half or so!.

I gave a try opening with Audition 3.0 and the result is strange too, and more "funny":

The lenght of one 24H15min file is 1H and a half

The lenght of another 24H 15min file is 21H or so.

In the Audition TMP directory, Audition has created several 4 GB temporay files that correspond to the limit of the WAV files.

I made a test with a 128kpbs, 44.1khz. This 511,845 kB file is  9H 5min long

Audition read it as 4H40min

The TMP file is 2,897,600 kB, far below the 4 GB limit

It seems Audition 1 and 3 (I read CS5 has the same problem too) does not share the WAV conversion very well.

Is it due to Audition itself or to the Fraunhofer MP3 codec?

Is there any workaround from Adobe?

As I am an AVS4YOU client, I tried AVS Audio Editor. It opens every file with the good lenght but does not have the needed editing functions. That demonstrates that it is possible to share very large files.

Many thanks in advance for any help or idea, because Audition is the editor I need!

Best Regards

How to split one long file into multiple tracks?

$

I have a single-file recording of a vinyl record (containing multiple sequential tracks) that I want to export to multiple separate tracks. Is it possible to take thisfile of audio, add markers to it and export that file from multitrack view into separate tracks? I know its possible to do it using markers and to export a CD list and the burning to CD, but can you export to multiple gapless WAV files instead, with the markers as track/split points?

I am not burning to CD, just wanting to keep the tracks as files.

Mixdown - midi tracks ignored

I finally got MIDI up and working with some nice VSTi plugins.  I'd like to export my song, but the newly created MIDI tracks are being ignored.  I've opened up the help file and searched for "midi mixdown" with no luck.

Also, another post referenced this (now dead) forum post: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c0545d4/0

Anyone have a backup of that post, or know how to get MIDI data to mix down to an audio track?  I've tried everything I can think of.. soloing then mixdown, bounce to MIDI.

Saving problem in Edit View

I've been using AA 2.0 and AA 3.01 for a long time. Today I loaded an mp3 file into Edit view, as usual. I deleted a few seconds off the end and went to save the file and I got this error message. "This wave format does not support the current sample type or is not functioning properly. Please try different file options, or a different file format."

I don't know what I did, but finally it saved. I tried it with other files and got the same error message. I have to change the name of the file in order for it to save. That shouldn't be. Why did this just start happening if nothing was set differently in AA3, and how can I get back to normal saving after a simple edit? Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi, all. Thanks for any help. Adobe had a breach, I had to reauthorize and then reinstall, and their support cannot solve this. I have repeatedly tried to download and reinstall, but I'm stopped by this file apparently missing.
