I am trying to install Audition 3.0 on my Windows 10 desktop. This is a new PC without much "baggage" from old installations. When I click on Audition 3.0 Setup.exe, I get asked in what language I want, when I click "next" I see a quick flash and then nothing. There are no files found on the OS drive. I have even removed every mention in the registry, rebooted and turned off Norton protection. NOTHING! I should note that I successfully installed the same files on my laptop running Windows 10 Home without a hitch.
Please help: I have spent hours trying.

Hi, I'm using Audition 1.5. In edit view I'm trying to hit play but a window comes up that says a device ID has been used that is out of range for your system. An error was generated by your sound card. It may not be properly configured - reinstall your sound card driver, check the sound card documentation and, if necessary, contact the sound card manufacturer to help you resolve this hardware error.
I already reinstalled the driver, any ideas?

Hello, I have a problem with my audition 3.0, I install it in my new PC (Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series ) with windows 10 and i keep getting a Microsoft visual C++ Runtime library error. I have installed all Visual C++ Redistributable. Uninstall and install again. but haven't manage to fix it. It doesn't create the setting folder in the AppData folder so i can try the method of deleting or renaming the folder. I installed it in a friends computer with windows 10 and it seems to be working fine there.
Any help is appreciated

Hi
Following a recent Windows 10 update I'm getting this pop up when opening Audition
"The audio input is not activated. Recording audio is not possible. Please check your input configuration."
Version 3.0
Build:7283.0
The in-built monitor mic is responding to sound (ie Cortana) but when I try to record sound in Audition this pops up:
Any answers out there?
Thanks
What is the best way to create put a effect onto a persons voice to make it sound like they are thinking or you can hear their thoughts in their head?

Hi, help, WINDOWS 10 , Adobe Audition 1.5, not recording, says "undefined external error" ???
When putting radio programs together, I'm adding .wav files to .mp3 files in the multitrack view in Audition 3.0 and they sound fine to start with. When I export the file to mp3 and listen to it in the edit view the .wav spots that I added sound distorted, as if there are 2 or 3 spots playing on top of each other. I go back to Multitrack view and they also now sound distorted. The other thing that happens is that sometimes once I export something of say 10mins, it only saves the first 20 seconds or so! It doesn't happen every time but it is quite often. If I go to another computer it seems to work fine and nobody else I know seems to get this problem which makes me think it must be my laptop. Any idea what is causing these issues? Maybe my Audio hardware or sample rate? Please help! Thanks.
I'm trying to resolve an issue with the Adobe Audition 3.0 Setup. I tried the Chat Support a few times, and they requested me to submit the problem to the forum for Professional Assistance. The issue is that the Setup window asks me for the serial number, and I tried my own serial number, and also the serial number provided in the download site (as the representative suggested) but they don't work. So if I can't finish the setup, I'm not able to perform the installation.
Hello.
I have a very early version of CEP that I've been using for many years now. It's a rare occasion I have any major issues with it. Here's the problem...
My plan is to record from audio cassette to HDD. In order to do this, I have plugged in a cassette player into my PC via the line-in port. The audio cable is also plugged into the cassette player's headphones port. So far, the audio is working well. I can hear everything coming through the speakers fine.
However, when I go to record onto CEP, I get no waveform as if nothing's coming through, when I can clearly hear it.
How do I go about fixing this? I currently use Windows 7.
Thanks in advance!
I'm running Audition v 1.2 on a PC WIN7 PRO. Just today when I try to "Save Copy As" from a .wav to an .mp3 file, the mp3 choice from the file menu has changed to "zip".mp3. No idea how this happened or how to change it back to plain .mp3. Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Dan
In audition 1.5 I'm wanting to export wav stems and don't want to have to solo each track in each session to do so.
Is there an easy way to do this?
Ideally, I'd like all wavs to start from the beginning to the end even of the session even if they're shorter and start halfway through the song.
Thanks in advance!
Hi folks,
I know I should really update to a later version of Audition but 1.5 gives me more than enough functionality! Anyway, as to my problem/question...
I can't get the pre-roll and post-roll parts to play when I am editing WAV or MP3 files (I haven't tried it on other file formats). Both pre- and post-roll durations are set to 1.0 seconds. I know that I am supposed to right-click the Play button and select the appropriate enablement option from there - however right-clicking on the Play button (or indeed any of the Transport buttons) doesn't produce the usual context menu. Has anybody else experienced this issue? (I can't seem to find any similar reports on the 'net).

I work for a radio station so several people use Adobe Audition 1.5, including interns who have little to any previous experience with it. When files are saved, I tell them to save everything as an .mp3; also, most everything that's saved has the date in the file name (as in 2-15ComedyClub.mp3 or McDonalds2-20.mp3).
Occassionally, however, someone accidentally mistypes and uses a period with the date instead of a dash, which will cause the computer to think it's a file extension; i.e. saving the file McDonalds2.20.mp3 instead of McDonalds2-20.mp3.
In doing that, this changes the "files of type" section when you're trying to save a file. Normally, in that "files of type" section, you'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.mp3) if you wanted to save an mp3 and Windows PCM (*.wav) if you want so save as a wav, etc. However, when the file name is saved incorrectly, the new "extension" shows up. Using the current example of McDonalds2.20.mp3, If i go to save a file, under the save drop-down menu, in the "files of type" section, I'd see mp3PRO (FhG) (*.20.mp3, *.mp3) as the file type. And then when a new file is saved, the extension is .20.mp3.
How on earth do I fix this? (Besides the obvious, don't save things as the incorrect file name/extension)
Thanks!
Hello, I upgraded from Echo Gal a bunch of years back to Audition 1.5. When I replaced my old PC I copied all of the Audition files from my old PC but when I click on the Audition.exe file it says it's not installed. I don't have the disk any longer, but I do have the serial number.txt file which contains the licensing information. Is there an installer (msi) file available for people that have the serial number, but need to reinstall the software? I really don't want the new version, as I don't want to pay a monthly fee for software that I have already purchased.
Thanks!
I recently bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd gen) and when I connected it to my PC, Windows attempted to install the driver but failed so I downloaded the latest driver from the Focusrite website, v4.15.0.172. I can select the 2i2 as the default recording device but when I attempt to select it in Audition I received the following message: " The audio input is not activated. Recording audio is not possible. Please check you input configuration."
I've checked everything and can't see what's wrong.
Windows is fully upto date.
Can anyone help?

Hi, im relatively new to this software and vsti plugins. I'm wondering if i can use an external keyboard to trigger off midi sounds using the vsti plugin on audition. the keyboard i'm using is quite a lousy and cheap keyboard (YAMAHA PortaSound PSS-50), but i'm using this to test out the vsti functions on audition before i buy a better keyboard.
After i plugged the keyboard into my computer using audio jacks, i went to the multitrack interface on audition. Then i clicked insert midi track. Then I clicked the red "L" button and then clicked sequencer. Under sequencer, at the top right hand corner i have no midi devices to select from and i have selected the 3 vsti plugins provided by adobe. What can i do to use the external keyboard to play sounds?
And is it possible to explain to me the concept of VSTi plugins and midi sounds? Any reply will be greatly appreciated!
... cause the newest version doesn't run on my macbook (OSX Yostemite 10.10.5)
So where can I get older versions of Au ?
I'm thankful for every hint ! (:

Hello,
I have an audio file that contains several songs one after the other. I'd like to separate each song into its own audio file.
Question 1: is there a way in Audition to add cue points (as if pressing the F8 key) automatically, based on a certain "silence" criterion, e.g. at least 200ms of pure silence?
Question 2: assuming there is no solution for question 1, and that all cues are inserted manually, is there a way to automatically save the contents between two consecutive cues as a separate audio file, i.e. without manually having to make each selection and use the Save Selection command?
Many thanks!
how to transfer my adobe audition 3 licence to another pc
Just wondering if anyone is using AA 3.0.1 with Windows 10, and are there any issues?
I've always found little bumps and bruises with Windows 7, and am curious if it would make sense to upgrade to Win 10...

In order to recover and reactivate my AA3.0 , I recently downloaded the Adobe 3.0 and loopology files from site I was directed to along with the
new activation codes. However, upon trying to install it from the exe file it says it cant because files are missing??? I know I downloaded everthing. is thee some trick or certain order to get the install to work?
Any idea on how to get this download version/file to work? I've already uninstalled my old licensed copy. I am working on a Win 7 64 machine.
This is very frustrating. Hope someone can help.
Thanks

I am a representative of the Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory named after Glinka. A few years ago, we have licensed Adobe Audition 3 on multiple computers, and we have a serial number. Unfortunately, it did not survive payment documents. Now we must ensure that governing documents for authorities, which confirm the fact that we have installed Adobe Audition legally. Can you in any way, to document the legitimacy of our license?
Truly yours, Dmitriy Sychev
hi.
i imported a file to adobe audition.
so, my windows sound dispositive was disconnected. windows media player, youtube, all was mute.
I saw that my file would play in adobe audition. but is very high. the windows sound volume don't affect that.
where i adjust the volume of files played in adobe audition?
What is the preferred method to restore the default setup (including edit and CD windows) screens on Audition 3? There is no general restore or rebuild in any of the menus.
Hi guys,
I am having problems with my understanding of DC offset.
So I thought I would show you the problem by way of some images...
1.
First, here is part of a waveform
It is a recording in mono from a cassette tape deck. Other tapes playback in the same way.
When I look at it, I notice that the top parts of the waveform above the RED line seem larger than the corresponding part of the waveform below the line.
2.
So I select normalise, and choose Normalise to -0.5db, plus a DC Offset of -3%.
The idea is to move the waveform down the screen to centre things higher, so that effects are the same above and below the red line. (I guess my understanding here is rubbish... :-) )
3.
So, this seems to be correct.
4.
But I have doubts..
So guys, does that now mean everything is ok and compression etc will be correct on both the + and - side of the red centre line?
Thanks in advance for any corrections to my understanding
Pete
My company still has us on AA3, which is fine -- I love it, except for one massively frustrating behavior I can't seem to find a solution for. If I'm in the edit view, select part of an audio file and right-click>Insert To Multitrack, it inserts the file on a new track that it creates. For example, if my session has five tracks and I do an Insert to Multitrack, now I have six tracks instead of inserting the clip someplace on one of the five existing tracks. In previous versions, it wouldn't create a new track unless I specifically did so, and that's what I want.
This link -- Home Recording -- suggests that there's a checkbox in the "Multitrack Clips section," but I can neither find that section, nor can I find any mention of it in a Google search. My new(ish) computer rejects 1.5 for some reason, so there's no going back. Anyone have an idea on how to stop this infuriating behavior?
Dear All,
I would like to get in touch with someone knowledgeable on license policies for obsolete versions of Adobe Audition.
I'm fond of bioacoustics, and in recent years I've been publishing a few scientific papers with spectrograms and frequency analyses based on Adobe Audition 1.0 (a regular license that I obtained by upgrading from Cool Edit Pro).
Now I have a one-day bioacoustics workshop to organize, and I've been asked to install on the Windows PC's of the participants the same tool (Adobe Audition 1.0) that I'm using.
I don't understand whether I may release to other users my license key on those PC's with impunity.
Does Adobe actively pursue that kind of violation related with such an old release of Adobe Audition?
In other words: may I duplicate my installation on other similar PC's (Windows 7) without risking a legal action by Adobe?
After all, several websites offer cracked keys of more recent versions of the same software - but I would prefer sort of an authorization. What I would actually need is a free non-commercial limited license for didactical purposes, but I don't expect it to be available.
Many thanks for your attention, please excuse my English.

I have been using Audtion for almost 10 years. I have installed Audition on a new desktop. The message appears: "The audio input is not activated. Recording audio is not possible. Check your audio input configuration." I have configured the audio from the control panel. A test reveals that it is picking up on the audio input. In Audition when I open the equipment set up, it does not recognize any inputs at all. Do I just need another type of sound card? Help.
I CAN NOT FIND THE ADDICTIVE DRUMS VST PLUGIN THAT I HAD,AND I TRIED ALL THE "REFRESH PLUGIN LIST" STUFF AND SO ON,BUT I CAN NOT BRING IT BACK. I CHECKED ON MY HARD DISC (PROGRAMS) AND THE SOFTWARE ITSELF IS FULLY THERE.
WHAT HAPPENNED?...AND HOW DO I RESTORE IT?
My operating system is XP and I have Audition 1.5. Just to let you know, I’m not too savvy with the technicalities of Audition. I just record, do noise reduction, Dynamic processing, add effects, and level everything. Anyway, I was recording fine until I decided to take a break and for some reason disconnected my mic (It’s a USB mic). When I came back I reconnected it and resumed recording but the volume of what was being recorded was minimal. I have to put the track in solo and put the volume all the way up to hear what was recorded and even then it sounds low. In the level meters when I’m recording my guitar, you can see it respond to it. If I play hard enough the levels will go all the way up yet in the multitrack window you cant see the sound waves of what is being recorded. That’s how low it is. I tried restarting the program and the computer as well as raising the mic volume in the control panel. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any idea as to what it can be?
Thanks in advance.
Good Morning fellow users,
We've updated our computers at the 6 radio stations I work for...all 6 production rooms and studios (for those not using VoxPro, myself included:)) to newer, core 'i' machines from the old school Pentium 4s we had which were on their last let (yet ran Audition 3.X) just fine. The newer machines are nice. They're signifcantly quicker chewing through mp3s, conversion betweeen and to different formats...but obviously, it's older softare that isn't able to take advantage of 64Bit or Multiple cores...so other than having a more reliable, speedier version...until we can convince the 'suits' to be that we need to bump up to the latest version, we'll be using said 3.X
That said, one of the main features we've been unable to figure out how to get back to our defaut 'edit' screen is the little volume knob that pops up while a segment of the audio is selected. IE, you've clicked and dragged a portion of the existing audio in the edit screen to 'turn it white'. In the little area above selected audio file, in the 'white/selected' area....we (used to) have a small volume icon that allowed for automatic amplifcation with a simple click and drag of the mouse (either right or left for volume 'up or down'). It looks as though the engineer did re-image each machine with the corporate Audition disc---however, it's showing as Audition 3.0 in the "About Audition" tab under Help. Isn't or wasn't there an updated to at least 3.1 or 3.01? Just wanted to double check as I run the 'new' Audition on my Macs for my home business--and I'm really enjoying it:) However...3.X, IMHO is one of, if not THE Best Wave editor...for it's time, in the History of Wave/Simple editing and production on the run. Since the Syntrillium/Cool Edit days, I've used it (since transitioning from SAW in the mid 90's). So it's been a bit tough to get acquainted with my Mac version....I just don't see the update happening in 'corporate' radio for some time. It took a whole lotta time, effort, and bureaucratic BS just to get the new hardware. We'll go to battle for the software in this year's budget (not to be distributed til next year---likely 3rd or 4th quarter:))....so must make do with the 3.X for now.
Lastly, we're gettin a studder after a quick edit. Say I'm cutting a 30 second spot...4 or 5 seconds of dead handles, maybe a slip in the middle...total of 43 second sound file. I quickly cut the front handle, but left click dragging to the start, hit delete, hit space bar....studder, studder for about 2-3 seconds before it works itself out. Is there a cache setting I'm missing somewhere? If I go back and play from the beginning the file is just fine. No issues. Just that initial playback after edit. It's annoying but not a deal killer. Easily gotten used to.
In radio, as our jobs (and hats we wear) have become more and more "Life in the production room" producing for smaller markets, voice-tracking, commercial and audio produciton/voice over--again, for the smaller markets that these days are running 'jock-less'....Audition has easily become my number 1 tool in the box. Just a couple quirks I'd like to get worked out for the rest of our air/prod staff. I was, in fact, very happy with the older machines---each of our 'Workspaces' set up as we liked. Unfortunately, we ALL know how the engineers work. They get the new machines, pull the old, re-image and THEN send out that email. Ugghhhhh! After almost 30 years in the buz, I sometimes miss when ALL they dealt with was RF and transmitters:) We fixed our own 'work-stations' by writing out 3x5" index cards and bulk erasing carts, donuts (reels), and opening fresh, new vinyl from the labels:)
Thanks for your time!
Jer
After a disk failure and reinstall of OS with upgrade from WIN7home to pro, my audition 3.o said it wasn't activated. Was directed to site to download versions that didn't need activation. There are two there. Was told to download and install both. But no one could tell me what sequence to install them in. Files are ADBEAudition_ESD1_WWEFGJIS.exe, ADBEAudtion_loopology.exe. On closer view, there are three files but one of them was a 7z zip type file. Support didn't seem to realize that. Am guessing the file ending in JIS is the application and that the loopology flle is an add-on of some kind. Any ideas?
THanks
Have no idea why but on my old 3.0 version of Adobe audition (which has been working perfectly) , when i go to multi-track view and want to edit a track - requiring the split function - it is not working. I pull the menu up and 'split' is one of the options (normal) - then i left click on the position where i want to edit the audio track. (normal) THEN when i use the RIGHT click and HOLD funtion on the mouse to 'drag' the split peice of audio down into another track (normal) now it does not work - nothing happens. ANYBODY our there know why this might happen? Very frustrated. OR is there a secondary way i can try to 'split' or separate and 'move' the edited peice of audio.... once done i then MIX it down again...
For the record - i CAN cut the section and paste it into another track but i cannot MOVE the tracj around with my my right clicker on the mouse.
make sense folks? pls advise - Johnny W
I have a valid copy of Audition 3 which I am trying to install on my new Windows 7 computer.
I have downloaded:
ADBEAudition_ESD1_WWEFGJIS
ADBEAudition_loopolgy
ADBEAudition_loopolgy.7z
and attempted to install. It gives me a wrong serial number error.
Where do I find the correct serial number?
How do I convert .wav (or .mp3) files into .cda formats for a DVD?
I purchased Audition 1.0 when it came out and upgraded to Version 3.0 some time later (i.e. I purchased an "upgrade offering"). I am now trying to re-install Version 3.0 (PC re-build). The Audition installer accepts my upgrade S/N, but is now prompting for my original Version 1.0 S/N. That V1 CD and S/N are long gone. What can I do to install Version 3.0?
I've had Au 3.0 since it came out. I edit many files together from different sources, and everything else that comes to me is recorded in 44100hz. When I put things into multitrack, well, if you use Au 3.0 a lot than I would guess you're experiencing this annoying resampling that I'm experiencing. Because or recording with 48000 Hz, I need to resample to 44100 to make it compatible in multitrack. Very annoying. I usually forget (as I'm loading things into multitrack) and end up with many duplicate files.
So, I've dealt with this for a few years, but never thought to ask if it could be changed. I know I can (in preferences) change the bit rate (as I needed to upon beginning with Audition), but what about Hz?
Your help is much appreciated.
Also, is there truly no way to search JUST in Audition? Am I only allowed to "Search Forums"?... As in all forums? Tends to give non relatable information very often. Surely I'm doing it wrong.

I am trying to save a .wav file as an mp3. file. When I go to Save As and click on file type/Mp3, it asks me if I want to overwrite the current .wav file. When I say yes, it saves it as a .wav file. How do get it to save as a .mp3 file? I'm certain that there is an easy way to do this, but I'm missing it. Any help from this knowledgeable forum would be most appreciated.
thanks

I have successfully been using Audition 3.0 until today to create, record etc utilizing both Edit & Multitrack function/view. However, upon completing and closing a session today, then shutting down computer as I usually do, then came back later to reopen not only this but any other session and it does not respond, as in, the multitrack view does not open, appear or otherwise seem to be accessible.
I open a session and get a single track in what appears to be edit view but when I go to File it shows that I am actually in Multitrack View if you follow but it still looks like I am in Edit view. The tracks of the session are listed in files on the side but the actual multitrack session will not open to reveal each track. Hope this is clear; very frustrated, pleas help if you can, Anyone. Thanks! Chris
Is Audition 3 compatible with Windows 10?
I have rediscovered my Adobe Audition 1.5, which I regularly use to edit live recordings from mp3 formats as captured by my TASCAM hand held device. That's fine
However I have also rediscovered my Korg Legacy synth collection (M1 / Wavestation / PolySix) and am keen to restart home composition using these and Audition
However, I seem to be unable to record audio directly into Audition 1.5 and cannot see how to configure. I am running Win 10 at present so the legacy Win mixer program / applet is no longer there....
Could anyone kindly point me in the right direction to enable me to record direct from my synths. At present it keeps defaulting to mic....
Apologies for this fundamental type of question....
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64, SP1
I installed the Adobe Audition trial installer, as well as the Audition 3.0.1 patch. Both installs went very smooth.
Tried to run AA3, and get the "this is a trial version" message. Clicked Continue, splash screen comes up, and then the app itself finally shows up, but I get an error message right away:
Shutting Down: To continue working where you left off, please restart Audition.
After that, AA3 closes and I get:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!
R6025 - pure virtual function call
As of yet, I have been unable to completely load the program even once.
I looked around for a few quick tips, what I found:
... none of which helped any. Can anybody help me with this?
For those who do not know - Adobe no longer has activation servers for AA3. Anyone know a workaround for not being able to activate AA3 anymore. I've had to do a new install. Disabling activation is quite an astonishing move by Adobe if this really is the case
thanks, Greg
